I have been reading alot of comments on various forums about problems that users encounter with low cost web hosting companies.  Some of the horror stories are truly frightening and make you shudder with fear at even the thought of using a low cost web host.  The funny thing is that what I have read is so differnet to my personal experience with a number of these companies.

I use several low cost web hosting companies and I have never experienced a problem that wasn’t quickly resolved.  My programming skills are limited, so it’s not as if I have any secret answers.  The one common theme that I noticed throughout all the horror stories I read, was that people were expecting miracles from the low cost web hosting companies.  There was one example of a guy getting over 100,000 unique visitors a month to his website (many downloading software applications) and complaining about the “speed” of the hosting account.  If that guy wasn’t making thousands of dollars a month from this volume of traffic, then he really needs to give the game away.  Anyway, this same guy was absolutely livid that this massive website traffic and downloading was stretching his $5.95 per month hosting account!!  What a cheap jerk.

Anyway, the moral to the story is, the low cost web hosting companies I use are exceptional, but if you are going to generate that much traffic and use that much bandwidth, then maybe a dedicated account is the way to go.

Bluehost support has down it again.  They are amazing!  I had a small issue with the free WordPress feature that comes with the Bluehost account and thought I’d drop a quick note to tech support at Bluehost.  Now the tech support guys at Bluehost aren’t really supposed to help, because Word Press has nothing to do with them, but as per usual, they had a quick look and gave me the solution in no time.
